The Norman Govier Fossil and Mineral Collection; A good, large and indexed collection of Fossil and Minerals, housed in two sets of purpose built pine specimen drawers, approx 1200 pieces. Fossils including Stromatolite Colony, a Megaladon Tooth, a Mosasaur Tooth, a Cerithium Giganteum, a belemnite Cylindroteuthis etc.,together with a large quantity of geological and mineral reference books.
Provenance; The much loved property and lifetime collection of two previous enthusiasts. A chance purchase in an antique shop in South Molton re-ignited the late Norman Govier's childhood interest in exploring abandoned mines and geology more generally. He decided to add to the collection and became a member of the former Exmoor Mines Preservation Society, securing the buildings of the historically significant Bampfylde Mine. By volunteering at the Combe Martin Silver Mine and through various 'mining holidays' Norman continued to pursue his interest in geology, and to amass further specimens for the rest of his life. Please note: the collection is indexed both numerically and alphabetically and also partly digitally, with details of where the specimen came from (a copy of which will be available to the successful buyer)
