A Queen Anne West Country silver dog nose Spoon, by Edward Sweet II (of Dunster), hallmarked Exeter, 1709, with beaded rat tail, the reverse of handle terminal pricked with initials 'WB over EH' and dated 1710, 7⅞ (20cm) long, 1.34ozt.
Provenance: from The Charles C Brian Collection. Mr Charles Brian was a born in Plymouth in 1916; he trained as a solicitor and joined his family law practice, C G Brian & Sons. He had a great love of Plymouth and Devon, and amassed a collection of Exeter and Plymouth silver. His particular interest was his collection of early West Country spoons.
