It’s quite a feather in our cap especially as we're celebrating our 20th anniversary this year. If you didn't know, Chilcotts was founded by Duncan and Liz back in in 2004.

Liz said: “We’re thrilled to be a finalist in these awards and to be representing Honiton. It’s the first time we’ve entered so fingers crossed!

“The nomination is based on successes of the past year, and for us, 2023 really was a stand-out year. Our turnover topped £1M for the first time. We also achieved the best ever single auction total of £200K in June and the highest individual lot, a Duncan Grant painting, sold for £42K, the highest price one of his paintings has achieved at auction outside of London.”

The Exeter Living Awards have been running for many years providing a showcase for many varied businesses and individuals from the area. The ultimate winners are chosen by a panel of independent and impartial judges and announced at Exeter University’s Great Hall.

Chilcotts is one of seven finalists in the category, along with a mixture of other retail businesses: Acuitis Opticians and Hearing Centre, Devon Eco Boutique from nearby Ottery St Mary, Fossil Coast Drinks Co, Greendale Farm Shop, Helen of Troy Boutique and Hydrolife Jacuzzi.

Liz added: “All are great businesses and all are very different, so good luck to everyone.”

The awards event takes place on Thursday March 7.
